A DAY OF THE CEO
lee313.jpg

For those who do not know who I am my name is Benny Greenheart and I am the CEO of The PoliteHeart Company which is home to the blog PoliteAsFlannels.com and podcast Polite Coolery. I never thought that I would ever own my own media company but after acting on some random ideas here we are.

I receive a good amount of emails about how my day looks as a CEO of my company. Well for starters I always tell them that I still have a regular 9 to 5 job so I’m no different than them I just work harder on my company when I’m not at my regular job because that time is very crucial. I don’t call it “down time.” I call it “Arcade Time.” The reason I call it Arcade Time is because I remember that when I was a kid and my parents took me to Arcades I had to make that time count because of 2 reasons.

The first reason is that my mom wouldn’t let me stay at the arcade all day.

The second reason is because I didn’t want to run out of money or tokens. So every token I used on a game like Street Fighter 3 for example I had to make count because I was a kid and I didn’t have a lot of money of my own. The longer I could make 2 tokens last the better time I would have.

So Arcade Time is the time I work on PoliteHeart things. I have to make that time count because 7-8 hours of my day is taken up by work or working out.

I want to take you through what I believe is a good and general day for a CEO. I’m not saying this is the right way but if this could help anyone that would be great.

THE MORNING

Some people are undecided on what time they would like to get up. I’m here to tell you it doesn’t matter. It’s all about what you do what your Arcade Time. You have 24 hours. 7-8 is sleep. Another 8-9 could be spent at your regular job. So at max that’s 17 hours. You have 7 hours to spend on your business/creativity. So if you’re a night worker and love to work from like 8pm to 2am do it. If you’re an early worker and like to work from 5am to 10am do it. I feel as long as you’re putting in 5 to 6 hours a day on your business/craft you’re in a good space. But I’ll use my day as an example.

I’m up at 5 or 6am

Pray and thank the most high for another day and chance

Meditate for 6-8 minutes. Think about the good day I will have.

Wash my face and brush my teeth.

Go to the gym for an 30 min to an hour.

MIDDAY

After the gym I may have a couple of hours before going into my regular job if I work a morning shift. So I’ll just read for an hour or 2 and go into my regular job. If I work an evening shift then I come back from the gym and use that time to write or work on podcast episodes. Basically everything PoliteHeart related for 5 plus hours. Brainstorm. Research. Write. Post effectively on my social media about my business and creativity. Sending out emails. Things of that nature and then I’ll go in for my evening shift. If I’m blessed to be off work then I just work on my business and writing all day and get some relax time for myself until it’s time for bed.

EVENING

Write an article or blog post.

I read for an hour.

I watch anime/read manga for an hour.

Pray.

Then I try to be in bed before 12am.

That’s my day. Keyword “MY.” You don’t have to copy my day if it doesn’t fit you. Just as long as you’re spending at least 5 hours a day or more on your business/creativity. Your arcade time is crucial because this isn’t a game. This is your life. The way you use your arcade time will shape your future. If you use your arcade time to just browse, gossip, and debate on social media you will lose. If you’re going to live in your phone at least make it all about business. If you’re binge watching a show on Netflix, Hulu, etc on your arcade time every day you will lose. The only way you will win doing those things is if you’re happy and comfortable with the life you have. If you’re not where you wanna be and you’re doing those things then you’re losing.

What you eat throughout the day matters too. Drink at least 7 glasses of water. Eat fruits and veggies. Stay light. Eating until your stomach is full is not good. The human body isn’t meant to be full. Catching the “Itis” is never good. Food is supposed to energize not make you sleepy and take naps.

Listen to some good music throughout the day. Especially when yo start your day. I usually listen to everything but I tend to always end up listening to N.E.R.D, Parliament, or Jamiroquai.

Talk to yourself. Yes you read correctly. Talk to yourself. Tell yourself positive things. You’re going to be a great CEO. You’re going to close that deal. You’re going to get that funding. You’re going to do incredible creative things. You’re going to do great things. You have to be your biggest cheerleader because that will set the tone for your confidence and it will radiate out to the world. Laugh and love!

Practice patience. Always think about the future. I’ll give you an example of patience. The best boxers in history are patient. They don’t just throw the knockout punch. They set up the shot with jabs, footwork, and patience. Be patient with what you’re doing. You won’t be successful overnight. Keep building. Set up your knockout blow.

Make it a habit to have your entire day planned out everyday. Every time I don’t have my day planned out I get less work done and I’m not very productive. You gotta know where you’re going or you’re just gonna waste gas. When I have my day planned out I move really fast and effectively. Everything is fast these days so moving quick is always an advantage.

The biggest and most important thing is GRATITUDE! I’m so thankful for everything. I don’t care if it’s a good day or bad day. I’m grateful I could see it. I’m grateful that I have the ability to write so how I express my gratitude is to write everyday. No matter what. I’m grateful for my senses. Being able to walk. Being a healthy human being. Grateful for my family and friends. Thankful that I have a chance to do what I love and what makes me happy. I’m so blessed.

Go out and be great! BE YOU!

Peace.
