RECAP: INSECURE EP 3 "RACIST AS FUCK"
Another beautiful Sunday. Another night watching my wife Issa Rae. Not going waste anytime. I'm trying to watch Dragonball Super so here are my random thoughts during Insecure episode 3 "Racist As Fuck."
NO MAKEUP SEX AFTER A ARGUMENT IS TRASH
You could tell Lawrence didn't smash Issa like his life depended on it. Makeup sex the best part of arguing. Despite Issa coming back home they're still acting awkward around each other. They act like roommates and not like a couple which brings me to my next point.
NIGGAS NEVER GET THE COVERS
Who ever shot and wrote this beginning scene is a GOT DAMN LIE! When we sleep with our women we NEVER get the covers EVER! We assed out and wake up with the sniffles. Men! We gotta come together! WE'RE FED UP AND WE NOT TAKING THIS SHIT NO MO! WE WANT SOME OF THE COVERS TOO! THE TIME IS NOW! ON YOUR FACEBOOK AND TWITTER'S PUT THE HASHTAGS UP AND STAND UP TO THIS INJUSTICE! #TAKEOURCOVERSBACK2017 #NIGGASGETCOLDTOO #IPAYHALFTHERENTIWANTHALFTHECOVERS
SOMEBODY HIRE LAWRENCE
Lawrence finally doing something instead of being a broke boy. He's actually trying to fix his life. Nobody is hiring him. The problem he seems to have is that he has a huge gap in his work history. This leads me to believe he left a good job to pursue a dream and something discouraged him.
He possibly could've gotten laid off also because I don't think you can get unemployment without being fired. He has a degree from Georgetown too so he probably had a good paying gig. Something happened to him and he lost all confidence and belief in himself. It will be interesting if they show how Lawrence got to this low point in his life.
The montage at the end of the episode of him and Issa's relationship over time is very telling. Lawrence looks like a confident and successful guy then over time you just see that confidence fade away and Issa gets angrier and angrier because this isn't the man she fell in love with. You slowly see the divide grow between them both.
Another thing. Tasha in the credit union wanna give Lawrence some ass. Tasha titties was sitting up higher than the fitted cap on T.I's head in the "24's" music video. She also gave Lawrence something Issa didn't. Support. Lawrence was actually trying and Issa never acknowledged him at all. He was trying to fix the problem of the relationship and Issa would only talk about her problems.
This is why some men cheat. Something as simple as encouraging words can make a man step outside the relationship. If he not getting it from his situation at home then as soon as he get it somewhere else he start questioning his situation. It's more than looks. It's all about how people make you feel. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Tasha from the credit union in the future. Shit, I hope I do. Titties looked better than $5 Box from Popeyes with lemonade.
Lawrence finally swallows his pride and gets a job at Best Buy. He shows some growth by doing that in my opinion. Don't know if he out the doghouse yet but he headed in the right direction.
MOLLY HELLA LAME
This is the dumbest character on television until I'm proven otherwise. She seems to be interested in Jared so she invites him to a college alumni party. She's an AKA so once I seen that I was like WOW THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING! No disrespect cause my little sister a AKA (Love you MuMu) but I swear all the AKA's I ever met act JUST like Molly.
At this party we meet Molly and Issa's college friends Tiffany, some random boyfriend nigga, and Kelli. Aye Kelli drunk ass would put a nigga to sleep. Don't sleep on a big woman. She'll wear a nigga out. As the great Chris Rock said and I quote "There's some good pussy under that gut."
This scene was funny because once Jared revealed he never went to college the whole atmosphere changed. He instantly became a nobody in everyone's eyes. He was judged and it was like he wasn't allowed to sit at the cool table anymore. So we see more of where Molly gets her views from. Jared kissed her all in the mouth after the party so he should be good right?
Nope. This lame thirsty broad finally gets into this dating app called "The League" which sounds like a dating app full of Morris Chestnut head ass niggas and she's excited. At this point she like "Fuck Jared! I'm going to get to date a nigga who could possibly be casted in the movie The Best Man."
Jared is basically me. I worked at Enterprise like him. I don't have a degree like him and I get judged by women like Molly all the time. I could relate to this character.
Molly has a date with a nigga from a Madea movie but before she enters the restaurant Jared calls her from Enterprise to see if she wants to go on a date she declines and tells him she's not looking for a relationship and that she only wants to be friends. I was like "Thiiiiiissssss Bitch." Jared is shocked but he takes it like a G and accepts what Molly tells him.
It shows how much of a hypocrite Molly is. She complained about not having a good man. God blesses her with a good guy and she doesn't want a relationship with him because he didn't go to college and he works at Enterprise. She cares about material shit and cares about what people think when it comes to who she dates. Can't wait for her to see the manure on the grass she thought was greener on the other side. You know it's coming.
RASHEEDA vs MOLLY
Rasheeda is the new intern at Molly's firm and instead welcoming her like a genuine person she acts fake and low key throws shade at her. The boyfriend at that college alumni party said something interesting about Molly. He said she wants to control everything. He was telling the truth.
Molly tries to control Rasheeda and tell her how she should act and basically tries to mold her in her image. Rasheeda a real one so she wasn't having none of that shit. Everybody isn't like Molly and she has a hard time accepting that. Rasheeda is like Jared but in a different setting in Molly's life. She judges them both except Rasheeda actually went to college and Molly still judged her. Molly just a bougie muhfucka.
LIFE'S A BEACH
Issa goes to the beach with her middle school kids and her racist co-workers and it's a success. The kids didn't slap box with seals but it was satisfying to see Issa's idea prosper despite the support of her weak ass co-workers. The kids bus scene was hilarious by the way.
ISSA FINALLY MATURES
Lawrence slaved over a hot stove. Cooked this woman Lamb. LAMB MY NIGGA! I never ate lamb in my life but I know it's some fancy shit. Issa still doesn't acknowledge him. He even tries to talk to her and she tries to binge watch a show. It was like the roles reversed.
She finally realizes that she's at fault also and apologizes to Lawrence. She matures. For now they both seem to be on the same page.
Another great episode. See yall next Sunday!
