ONE PIECE CHAPTER 1000
I started One Piece very late. A friend of mine recommended One Piece to me and I watched about 3 episodes and I didn’t really care for it anymore. It felt like Pokemon to me and I just wasn’t interested. My friend kept campaigning for me to keep watching it and after 2 weeks I was hooked to One Piece.
I started with the anime and I did not read the manga at all. I didn’t even know the manga existed because I never read a manga and I didn’t even know what a manga was. I wasn’t too deep into anime culture at that time. All I knew was anime that came on Toonami and Adult Swim and nothing more.
Once I completed all the arcs in the anime I was extremely bored. I wanted to know what happened next and did not want to wait week to week so I turned to reading my first manga ever. One Piece was that piece of history in my life. Once I started reading the manga I literally forgot about the anime for months at a time. I started reading the manga right before the Dressrosa arc and I didn’t look back. I even went back and read the chapters I saw in the anime.
Seeing One Piece complete 1000 chapters is almost surreal and I wasn’t a reader from the beginning. Looking forward to weekends seeing what Oda has brought to the story were high points for so many of my weekends. I want to thank and congratulate Oda and his team for such an achievement in history. How many people have worked on a story for 20 plus years and it’s still relevant today?
It was so fitting that the 1000th chapter was named Straw Hat Luffy. He is the reason why we’re on this journey. I think back often how I thought how goofy Luffy and One Piece was and how I gave up on it and years later Luffy is my favorite M.C in anime ever. Seeing everything he’s been through on his journey. All the wins. All the losses. The triumphs and the heartbreaks. To see him calm, confident, and collected in front of Kaido and Big Mom is the moment I’ve been waiting for. This is the step towards being the King of The Pirates. We’ve heard Luffy scream that declaration 100 times but seeing him at this level un-phased in the presence of 2 Yonko is different because now it’s clear he’s literally a few victories away from his dream and our dream as viewers and readers.
One Piece is the greatest anime ever. 20 years of consistency. Every arc got better and arc after arc I was like “Okay where are we off to next!” It’s like a treasure hunt or you’re playing Zelda or FinalFantasy. The adventure isn’t lost after 20 years. The magic is still there.
The world building Oda has created is nothing short of extraordinary. One Piece is the Game Of Thrones of anime. So many territories. So many kingdoms. It’s very expansive and very detailed. The details is what makes it stick. It doesn’t just revolve around Luffy and his crew. Every character matters. Every destination matters. Things still happen without the Straw Hats involvement.
The unique fights and devil fruit fighting system. The mysteries of the One Piece world that we have yet to see or understand. Mysteries like “The Voice Of All Things” and “The Will Of D” or “What is Shanks capable of.” There was a chapter where we lost our fucking minds over Yonko bounties. These are the reasons why we can’t stop reading One Piece. If Oda wanted to create 1000 more chapters no one would be upset but we all know the end is almost near and that’s not happening. It doesn’t need to happen because One Piece is already cemented as one of the greatest of all time. Cheers to 1000 and LET’S WIN THE WAR LUFFY!!!!!!
PEACE!
