SNOWFALL EPISODES 1 & 2 RECAP
Here’s my take from the 2 newest episodes of Snowfall.
Franklin isn’t a good leader. This is what Franklin is. If you ever seen The Wire Franklin is Stringer Bell but he has morals. He won’t cross his circle, he cares for the innocent, and he understands the history and the economics of the game but when it comes to the belly of the beast of the streets he lives in the grey area. To be in the streets in the capacity he is and be able to thrive you have to almost be sociopathic. Leon does that for him. Leon takes on that role but with Leon not being his right hand Franklin is actually weak. Franklin cannot enforce anything if Leon is not there. Uncle Jerome is a playa. He’s not a killer. He’ll kill if he has to but he’s not a killer. Leon is the “Let’s go we sliding” type. So with Leon around they’re able to recruit muscle and maintain muscle since Leon controls the projects he live in.
Franklin has already made a grave error by trying to play both sides. Skully now sees he tried to backdoor him and Manboy saw how shook he is of Skully so now both sides are going to go after him and get to his plug. Franklin now has to buy protection from the police and feds. That is the only play he has left because he does not have any muscle. So him being connected to government officials and them protecting him will be his only move. Problem with that is they will bleed Franklin dry of his money and that it definitely creates a conflict of interest with Reed Thompson. He’s able to do deals with Franklin because Franklin is low level. He’s in the streets. If Franklin is connected to more government officials then when Franklin falls (Yes Franklin will fall it’s inevitable) he has a laundry list of officials to tell on and that will put Reed in a worse position. I could honestly see Reed killing himself when Franklin gets arrested and hit with the RICO charge.
Leon is jealous which is normal but he’s also trying to figure it out on his own. Franklin didn’t build it on his own. Franklin would not have what he has without Leon. I know we all love the brick by brick scene because of Franklin’s passion but Leon played a HUGE role in that. Leon has the right idea cause if he’s still alive when Franklin goes to the feds he has no idea how the arrangement with Reed works. He doesn’t understand the economics. He will be left naked when Franklin falls or if Franklin tells on him (which is also likely to happen). Leon wants to be the man and he’s figuring out that what Franklin is great at is hard to emulate.
Leon is also a crash dummy. He always plays his hand before everyone else. He saw Oso at the New Years party and immediately let it be known that they’re enemies instead of keeping his enemy close, using him and then making his move on him when he’s vulnerable. He showed he was a threat in front of the plug. Now the only way he can gain trust from Reed Thompson and Oso is by saving their lives.
Louie is the brains. She’s street smart and can analyze street shit at a level Franklin cannot because her whole life she been around hustlers and killers. She worked around them. She got game thrown her way by them. She understands the psychology. If you really want to destroy Franklin you take out Louie first. If Louie gets killed or is out the way it’s only a matter of time before the crew unravels. She’s the accountant she knows the books of the legal and illegal businesses. She knows the plug. She has the connections. She understands the product. If Franklin is the Quarterback then Louie is the coaching staff. Without coaching you just have athletes with no direction. They won’t know how to score in different ways.
Skully is the issue. Manboy is a normal nigga but he’s very sloppy. What Louie said about him is correct. He’s smart and ambitious but he doesn’t have any structure or control over his troops. There’s no way your homie should get kidnapped under your nose. Skully is a problem because of location and the niggas around him know how to play their role. He has guards. He has soldiers. He’s the only unstable person but he’s one of those crazy but genius niggas. He’s inquisitive and moves off instinct. Franklin is afraid of him and rightfully so. We saw the police wanted no parts of him because yeah they could just get a tank and blow em out but the amount of police officers that they would lose in that war not worth it. It’s only a matter of time with Manboy but Skully is the one that will likely be around for a while as the main villain. Skully gone get backdoored by his people. It’s gone someone close to him that either tell or kill him.
Reed and Oso’s dilemma is something that can be handled because the Tijuana Chief can get touched. He’s too greedy and that’s his weakness if he’s greedy like that then one of his soldiers is too and Reed can buy one of them and set him up. Reed just needs firepower and will likely have to team up with a cartel to get it done.
I don’t like the Newspaper lady. She’s fake. She doesn’t care about the community, she’s using Black Death to further her career and I need her gone by episode 5. That is all.
Melody kicking a crack habit in a couple months was the biggest bullshit I ever seen. If God smoked crack even the lord wouldn’t bounce back that fast. So I’m not feeling that either. I like Melody she’s not a bad person. I would’ve shot Franklin too. I know we get caught up in liking Franklin but Franklin is a piece of shit too and we really forget that. Everybody has their flaws but I never understood the hate for Melody.
Predictions. Franklin Dad will get killed. He’s been through hell, recovered and helped the community, he’s lived a full life. Now that Franklin has him mixed up in his bullshit I think that just adds up to him dying. For Jerome and Louie. I see Jerome in prison and Louie either quitting or dying. Franklin going to prison. This whole story is Freeway Ricky Ross story so Franklin going to prison and he’s telling on police and government officials. Leon is getting killed and it will likely happen from Franklin. It’s going to get to a point where Leon is too much of a threat and liability and it will probably be Franklin that makes the move. Oso dead and Reed Thompson outta there too. Melody will likely be gone too trying to save Franklin or something.
