WHAT THE FUCK I LISTENED TO YESTERDAY
Haven't done this in the while. Got some joints out from the upcoming wave. I checked the vibes on them and so should you. It's time for WHAT THE FUCK I LISTENED TO YESTERDAY!
MAR$ & JUST.ONE - DO RIGHT RADIO EP 3: MASON DIXON PIMPIN
I'm definitely playing this upcoming weekend because the weather in St.Louis will be very very fresh. Songs from Legends like UGK, S.U.C, Ball & MJG & the new wave like Future, 21 Savage, and Bankroll Fresh. Damn near cried hearing "ESPN" on this mix. (LONG LIVE BANKROLL). Great commentary from Mar$. Pour up and chill out. Oh check this one out too. A Shea Butter Soundtrack getting burn this weekend too.
ARSHAD GOODS - RESURRECTION
Arshad addresses the hypocrisy of the fan and consumer. Just a discussion. Don't get offended.
J'DEMUL - STLAVE
J'Demul takes us on a very emotional and brutally honest ride on St.Louis Ave. What I like about this project and might separate J'Demul from artists that's around his age is that he raps like he has PTSD. Like a war veteran. This seems like a re-run to him and he's letting you know what happens or what to expect on the road he has traveled. For my film heads. If you ever seen the movie "The Deer Hunter" with Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken, and Meryl Streep. There is one scene at a wedding and Robert DeNiro character and his friends are celebrating before they leave for Vietnam to fight in war. They're drunk and go to the bar in the wedding and there is a Veteran sitting there. Quiet. Drinking whiskey. Staring at nothing. The look in his eyes are almost dead but aware. DeNiro approaches him because he sees he has on his army uniform with stripes on it. DeNiro starts asking him about the war. The guy doesn't respond nor gives them any eye contact. They keep asking him questions and he finally just says "Fuck It" and he keeps calmly saying "Fuck It." DeNiro and his friends laugh. They were excited about Vietnam but the veteran already been there done that. It doesn't phase him. He's seen it all. Later in the film. DeNiro pick up those same traits like the veteran when he comes back from Vietnam. Shit is not a game. J'Demul is like the veteran. Seen a lot. Done a lot. Great production. Great lyrics. Great project. Highly recommend you check it out.
ILLPHONICS - 96to99
An ode to 3 great years of hip-hop. I love this track instrumentation especially the horns, vocals, and the passionate lyricism about what is missed about that time. I still have to check the bands album "Gone With The Trends" and I surely will this week for sure. Good track to vibe out to.
